The square in Brightwater: a timbered inn, a well, townsfolk, and mountains behind

Welcome to the Legends of the Soulbringer

Swing a sword. Cast some fire. Make them one.

Every skill here is learned by doing it. Put two to five of them together and they become one new skill of your own. Try it in the window here, then come and do it for real.

This is a try-out with the 12 examples from the combining guide, at the levels they show. Nothing here is saved. The window in the game (J) answers for whatever you choose, before you commit.

Your skills go in. A new one comes out.

You see it before you commit

Nobody rolls your result. The same inputs at the same levels always make the same skill, and the window says what it will be before you press Combine.

It costs you something

The skills you put in are used up; spells and abilities are kept but go back to Novice. What comes out goes in your spellbook and levels like any other skill.

What else you do here

A player mining a copper vein beside a town

Learn by doing

No trainers, no points. Swing the axe and Woodcutting grows; take the hits and Defense does. The class you pick (Warrior, Mage, Ranger, Cleric, Cutthroat, Hexblade or Earthwarden) is only where you start.

The game's evolutions window

Evolve

Every skill has three branches, each counting a particular way of using it: kills with a sword, casts while you yourself are hurt. When one is ready you evolve it, hold it for a combination, or sacrifice it.

Shape

Raise a wall of stone where you stand. It holds for a while, then the world takes it back.

The old ballad

A knight clad in full stops our adventurer in his path.
"In the name of my King you shall not pass."
At this sound twenty more knights then gathered round,
ready to pounce on the new prey they had found.

Silently he unsheathed his sword, with a malicious ring.
Ready to deliver the message he had come to bring.
One by one they ran in headlong.
And one by one the enemy began to fall
Until there was only one left standing at all.

"This message is to your mighty King.
He slaughtered my village, my family and friends.
Now I, 'The Soulbringer', shall have his head."
Turning, he left the last knight in dread.
And continued on...
